Examination & Promotion

Examination, Assessment and Promotion

The College follows a structured system of examinations, continuous assessment and academic evaluation in accordance with the rules and regulations prescribed by the University and the College.

Promotion Criteria

  1. The minimum passing mark in each subject is 40% or as prescribed by the University.
  2. Promotion to the next semester/year shall be governed by the rules and regulations of the University and the College.
  3. The overall academic performance of the student, including internal assessment and end-semester/annual examinations, shall be considered for promotion.
  4. Submission of a medical certificate does not automatically entitle a student to promotion or special consideration.
  5. Students absent from any examination shall be governed by the relevant University rules regarding absenteeism and re-examination.
  6. The decision of the Principal and the University authorities regarding promotion and examination matters shall be final and binding.

Continuous Assessment

  1. Students’ academic progress is evaluated continuously throughout the academic session.
  2. Continuous assessment may include assignments, seminars, presentations, practical work, class tests, projects, and attendance.
  3. Students are required to participate in all internal assessment activities as prescribed by the College and University.

Examinations and Assessment

The College conducts the following examinations and assessment activities during each academic session:

  • Mid-Semester Examinations
  • End-Semester / Annual Examinations
  • Internal Assessment Tests
  • Practical Examinations, where applicable

Additional Guidelines

  1. Details of examinations and assessments are provided in the Academic Calendar issued by the College.
  2. Marks obtained in internal assessments are included in the final result as per University regulations.
  3. Re-examinations shall not ordinarily be conducted for students absent from any test or examination unless permitted under University rules.
  4. Students found using unfair means during examinations shall be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with College and University regulations.

Progress Report

  1. Students’ academic performance and attendance records are communicated through the College Management System, Student Portal, or official notices.
  2. Internal assessment results are displayed and communicated periodically during the academic session.
  3. Semester/Annual examination results are declared as per the schedule prescribed by the University.
  4. Final marksheets, certificates, and other academic documents are issued in accordance with University regulations.
  5. Parents/Guardians may be informed about a student’s academic progress whenever deemed necessary by the College authorities.
